The Schoolhouse

Experience the unique setting of an original WV schoolhouse that has been restored and renovated in breathtaking fashion. The schoolhouse sits at the entrance of Twin Creeks and serves as another great accommodation option for wedding parties. Alongside original brickwork, architecture, loft and bell tower find modern appliances, wifi, directTV, fireplace, grill, screened in porch and more.

Such a great place to stay! Well appointed, spacious and functional. The perfect spot for a large family. We rented the schoolhouse for a ski weekend at Snowshoe. The mountain is about 30 miles away. Under ideal conditions it would take about 45 mins to get there. We drove there in the snow and it took a little over an hour with 4WD on the mountain roads. We would definitely stay here again!

The school house was very modern but still left a cute school house memories around the house. Perfect for large families, loved the screen porch, sat outside every morning looking out at the beautiful trees, and creek. Took a hike and was in awe of the beauty of the mountains and quite stillness of out surroundings. Wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of city. Thanks so much Gordon our teens rally enjoyed your home, we fell in love with EVERTHING!

The renovation to this old schoolhouse is absolutely breathtaking. I wouldn’t change a thing! Everyone loved the layout and all of the attention to detail. The loft was absolutely beautiful. If someone is able to climb stairs, they will have no problem with the layout. There was plenty of space for our group of 13 to visit, cook, eat, and sleep. Sitting by the firepit on the back patio in the crisp mountain evening air was a lovely way to bring each day to a close. We have decided to make this our “home” for our annual family get-together.

The Old Schoolhouse is actually located in Minnehaha Springs, WV. The renovations were beautifully done yet the essence of the ‘schoolhouse’ was maintained. We held a family reunion in the home in August 2013 and found everything we needed in working order and there was no convenience lacking in this gorgeous home. The home is clean, well-maintained, and fully stocked with linens and modern conveniences. Except – and these are my only exceptions to this wonderful home – beware that the 4 twins and the 2 queens in the loft are located beneath eaves. If you have trouble bending and getting in and out of bed (i.e., older adults or those with disabilities) these beds are not for you! In addition (not shown in the pictures), you have to climb through crossbeams to reach the 4 twin beds. Not totally an obstacle for kids, or perhaps younger people, but again, not for the older ones or those people with difficulties. I would love to go back to this home again – only next time I will not take older adults and expect them to sleep upstairs.
